Top up an existing card
A normal crypto top-up credits your existing card directly. The account’s available balance for certain rewards and refunds is separate; you do not need to manually fund a shared wallet first.
- On the home screen, select Top Up and choose cryptocurrency.
- Enter an amount and compare You send with Card receives. The current minimum sent amount is $26; use the app’s quote for your own payment.
- Select an available network and pay the created invoice in the exact amount. Wait for a successful status and check the card balance.
Understand the quote before paying
A top-up in SafePay credits your selected existing card through the invoice flow displayed in the app. Review You send, Card receives, the selected cryptocurrency, network and card type before sending funds. The top-up fee is included in the card-receives calculation; an external wallet or exchange may charge its own withdrawal fee.
The card issuance payment, the account’s available balance and the card spending balance are not the same thing. When the transfer is confirmed, check the selected card’s balance. If the card does not update, keep the invoice ID and transaction hash and follow the missing-top-up guide.
How the fee is calculated
Universal’s top-up fee is 3.5%; Universal+’s is 4.5%. Before any bonus, the card receives the sent amount ÷ (1 + fee rate), rounded down to cents. Sending $100 gives $96.61 on Universal or $95.69 on Universal+. Any sending fee charged by your wallet or exchange is separate.
The first eligible successful top-up adds $5 separately from the amount after fees. This is a one-time bonus; an account that received it previously does not receive it again.
