Check compatibility first
The purchase and merchant country must be permitted, and your service account must meet its rules. Universal is not suitable for ChatGPT or Claude; Universal+ is not suitable for OnlyFans or Patreon. Even a compatible service can decline an individual payment.
First select the payment channel
A bank-card form, an Apple Pay button, a Google Pay button, an Apple App Store purchase sheet and a Google Play purchase screen are five distinct payment flows. A card saved in Apple Wallet is not automatically the payment card in Apple Account subscriptions. A card saved in Google Wallet is not automatically the payment method in Google Play. Use only a method actually offered for the intended purchase.
Universal+ supports Apple Pay and Google Pay; Universal supports Google Pay but not Apple Pay. Store subscriptions depend on the merchant’s and platform’s separate country and account eligibility requirements.
Match billing information without inventing a residence
At merchant checkout, copy the card billing fields displayed by SafePay for your own card, not a sample address found online. The issuing country of Universal is Hong Kong and of Universal+ is Singapore, but your real residence and the merchant service-account country may be different. Do not claim residency or alter a payment profile simply to evade a restriction.
Check the purchase currency and verification
An otherwise eligible payment can be declined because the merchant’s offered currency, issuer restrictions, conversion or available balance do not match the final charge. If the merchant legitimately offers another billing currency, compare the amount and conversion before choosing it. Do not assume switching currencies guarantees approval. If the merchant requests 3D Secure, complete the single approval and wait for the actual order status before attempting another payment.
Where to find payment details
- In SafePay, select Show details. Open Card Details to view the number, expiry date and CVV.
- Open Billing and copy the cardholder name and address displayed for your card.
- Enter these details in the merchant’s secure checkout. The billing country must match the details displayed.
Universal is issued in Hong Kong; Universal+ in Singapore. A service’s account and legal address can have separate requirements: do not replace them with invented information.
Check the available balance
Purchases use the card balance. Universal has a 0% transaction fee; Universal+ has a 2% fee and SGD settlement while its balance is displayed in USD. Allow for conversion, taxes and any merchant verification hold. Check the current terms in the app before paying.
Confirm and check the result
- Keep checkout open. If the issuer requests 3D Secure, open SafePay and complete the confirmation shown.
- Wait for the merchant’s result and check the order or subscription. Do not submit another payment while the first is pending.
