Advertised limits

These are advertised product limits, not a promise that every amount will be approved. Actual availability depends on your card, balance, merchant and payment checks. Before a large payment, check the app or ask support.

LimitUniversalUniversal+
One paymentUp to $200,000Up to $15,000
Per dayUp to $200,000Up to $200,000

Restricted uses

  • Money transfers, payment-wallet funding and card-to-card transfers.
  • Unattended fuel stations, dating, gambling and betting.
  • Deposit, bail and bond payments.

Universal and Universal+ are virtual cards. ATM withdrawal is not advertised as a supported use: do not rely on it when planning a trip.

Purchases are not money transfers

These virtual cards are intended for eligible purchases, not cash withdrawal, peer-to-peer card transfers, topping up external payment wallets, cryptocurrency exchanges or buying cryptocurrency. A merchant may also decline an unattended fuel pump, gambling-related transaction, dating service or restricted deposit, bail or bond payment. Linking a card to PayPal or a digital Wallet does not make a prohibited transfer eligible.

Before relying on a virtual card for hotel check-in or a refundable security deposit, check the property’s payment and identity requirements. Some properties require a physical payment card or hold a separate deposit even when the room was booked online.

Do not assume that card funds can be transferred back to a SafePay account balance: ask SafePay Support about the actual balance and refund rules instead of relying on other card providers’ instructions.
