Apple Account and Apple Pay
App Store purchases and Apple subscriptions use Apple Account payment methods. This is separate from Wallet: adding a card to Apple Pay does not automatically attach it to every subscription. Apple determines which payment methods are eligible for your account’s region.
Before changing an Apple Account country or region
You do not need to change your Apple Account country merely because a SafePay card was issued in Hong Kong or Singapore. A country change must follow Apple’s eligibility rules and your actual circumstances. If you are legitimately changing your region, Apple may require several outstanding items to be resolved first:
- Spend any remaining Apple Account balance. This is not the same as SafePay card funds.
- Review active subscriptions; cancel any that block the country change and, where required, wait until their current paid period finishes.
- Resolve pending pre-orders, rentals, purchases and refunds.
- Check whether Family Sharing or other account conditions prevent the change.
- Check whether purchased media, apps, plans or prices differ in the new country.
After a permitted country change
After a permitted change, add a payment method using Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping or the prompts in Apple’s country-change flow. Enter your genuine personal details and the Billing address that is actually assigned to your SafePay card. Do not copy a sample address or create a fictional residence.
If Apple asks for a card and rejects it, confirm the account used for Media & Purchases, pending unpaid purchases, account-country eligibility and exact billing fields. Contact Apple for Apple Account eligibility errors and SafePay Support for issuer verification errors.
Add the card to your account
- On iPhone, open Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping. Sign in to your Apple Account if requested.
- Select Add Payment Method and enter the card and billing information displayed in SafePay.
- Save and check the payment method. Purchase the item or subscription, then check its status and renewal date.
Change the account region only when appropriate for your actual situation and Apple’s rules. A change may require spending the remaining balance, ending subscriptions and waiting for pending purchases; content availability may change.
