How to verify a card and find a code

Wallet verification and payment authentication use different requests and methods.

Updated

When adding to Apple or Google Wallet

Choose a verification method actually displayed in Wallet and follow the issuer’s instructions. Delivery depends on the particular request; do not assume every SMS code will appear in Telegram or SafePay.

  1. If needed, leave Wallet in the background while keeping verification open. Check the offered delivery channel and wait for the current code.
  2. Enter the code only in the original verification screen. If it expired, request one new code after a pause.
  3. If the channel is unavailable, no code arrives or activation fails, send support the request time, card type and exact error.

Support does not need your verification code or CVV. Do not forward them or approve adding your card to someone else’s device.

When paying for a purchase

Payment 3D Secure is a separate process. SafePay may show a code to enter at the merchant or a request with approval and rejection buttons. Linked Telegram accounts can receive notifications; website users should check the request in the web app.

Identify who asked for the code

If a code does not arrive, record which screen asked for it, the time, card type and exact error. Never send a code to anyone, including support staff.

  • Merchant sign-in SMS: sent by the service, for example when it verifies an account phone number. This is not a SafePay card verification message.
  • Apple or Google Wallet enrollment code: confirms adding a card to a device. The available delivery method is set for that particular request and must be followed as displayed.
  • 3D Secure during purchase: authorizes a specific merchant charge. SafePay may show a code or an approval or rejection prompt depending on the operation.
